Williamsport, Pa. — The Community Arts Center (CAC) received a $1,000 donation from Susquehanna Community Bank as part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.
The funding will go to support the CAC’s approved educational programs, which include the Student Summer Stock, Educational Series, and The Nutcracker production.
The historic 2,100-seat venue has been designated as an Educational Improvement Organization under the EITC program through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to support the CAC’s high quality innovative educational programs.
“Susquehanna Community Bank is grateful for our partnership with the CAC and is pleased to support their youth educational programs on an annual basis.” said Mike Loeh, the vice president and relationship manager at Susquehanna Community Bank.
The EITC program provides tax credits to eligible companies that do business in the state when they contribute to scholarship organizations, educational improvement organizations and/or pre-kindergarten scholarship organizations.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Susquehanna Community Bank for this generosity. Funding like this allows us to present a variety of educational programming each year to thousands of local K-12 students, many of whom see live performances for the first time in their lives at the Community Arts Center,” said Jim Dougherty, executive director of the CAC.
Annually, the Community Arts Center has been able to provide thousands of area youth access to exceptional educational programming.
“This support is vitally important to the CAC’s outreach into the community,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, college relations officer for CAC development. “Our educational, student-centered programs reach our youngest and most diverse population and we are proud of that. We can’t do it without the community.”
Funding for the educational programs is derived from various sources, including EITC Funds, donations, corporate sponsorships, and grants.
